Programming | Tell Me A Story: Program Plan for Indiana Deaf History Museum

This program on the art of Deaf Storytelling was developed as an online program targeted toward homeschool families. It features four modules that include activities to get kids signing and telling stories in American Sign Language. The translation components are still in process at the Indiana Deaf History Museum.

Evaluation | Active Collections Deaccessioning Survey

Active Collections is a grassroots movement spearheaded by three museum professionals, each with a unique area of expertise. The problem this group is looking at begins on the shelves of museums throughout the country: objects. This group is looking at the barriers to deaccessioning and how to overcome them to make collections in museums more "active." As part of Museums and Audiences, a class on evaluation and visitor studies, we developed this needs-assessment survey to collect data on barriers to deaccessioning.

Field Services work in action. This is Local History Services facilitating a workshop on accessioning for small museums.

Evaluation | Field Services Survey

Multiple times throughout my internship at IHS in the Local History Services Department, a field services office, we have talked about the problem of evaluation in field services. Evaluation is required by granting organizations as evidence for success, but field services groups struggle to evaluate. With this in mind, I designed a survey and collected data to answer these questions: To what extent do field services offices evaluate their programs? What are the barriers to conducting evaluation in field services?

What are some possible solutions to these barriers?
